Get ready to roll up your sleeves and help keep Newport’s shoreline beautiful. Sail Newport and the Ocean Recovery Community Alliance (ORCA) are organizing a cleanup at Fort Adams on April 12.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon, giving volunteers a chance to clear away winter debris and spruce up the local coastline.

Kim Cooper, Sail Newport’s Marketing Director, says everyone’s welcome to pitch in. “All ages welcome and Sail Newport has all of the supplies, including gloves.”

Here’s a nice bonus: Empire Tea & Coffee is offering free coffee to participants who bring their own thermoses.

The cleanup takes place at 72 Fort Adams Drive in Newport, with free parking available at the fort.
