The Rhode Island Turnpike & Bridge Authority is rolling out a series of lane closures on several bridges and routes across the state from March 2-8, 2025.

Newport Claiborne Pell Bridge users should expect multiple closures. On March 4, the eastbound right lane will be shut from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Westbound traffic will face alternating lane closures from March 5 to March 7, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

At the Pell Bridge’s former toll plaza, both directions will see alternating lane closures from March 3 to March 7. Westbound closures run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., while eastbound closures are set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Route 138 Connector will have overnight right lane closures in both directions from March 2 to March 7, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Sakonnet River Bridge travelers should note northbound alternating lane closures on March 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Good news for some: the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge and Mount Hope Bridge have no scheduled lane closures during this time.

“Keep in mind, this schedule might change,” RITBA says. “For the latest updates, check our Real Time Traffic Updates page at http://www.ritba.org/travel-alerts or follow us on X (formerly Twitter) @RIEZPASS.”
