Newport City Hall

The City of Newport is hosting two important workshops this week to discuss potential zoning changes and utilities planning.

The Planning Board and City Council are meeting jointly on Wednesday, February 5, at 5:30 p.m. They’ll be talking about proposed updates to the city’s Zoning Code, with a focus on housing and development issues.

The following day, Thursday, February 6, also at 5:30 p.m., City Councilors will sit down with the Utilities Department. On the agenda are recent and upcoming projects for Easton’s Pond and the Station 1 Treatment Plant complex.

Both meetings are happening in the Second Floor Council Chamber at City Hall and are open to everyone. Can’t make it in person? No problem – you can watch live or catch up later at www.CityofNewport.com/TV.

The city’s calling it a “Special Meeting Kind of Week,” highlighting these extra sessions on top of the usual board and commission meetings.
