The Bodhi Spa, a woman-owned business that operates in Newport and Providence, is one of three businesses chosen for a grant from MVYRADIO’s Business Diversity Initiative.
Based in West Tisbury, Massachusetts, MVYRADIO gives out quarterly grants to business owners who’ve traditionally been underserved. The initiative supports businesses owned by women, people of color, immigrants, LGBTQIA+ individuals, veterans, and people with disabilities.
As part of the grant, The Bodhi Spa will get 60 underwriting messages on MVYRADIO, worth $1,200, to spread the word about their business.
“The Business Diversity Initiative is an underwriting grant project of MVYRADIO, and serves the station’s Mission Statement, aspiring to reflect Martha’s Vineyard and the region in music, news, culture and community. We are grateful for the ability to offer our local area minority-owned businesses underwriting campaigns to raise awareness for their work in our communities. Supporting locally-owned businesses truly makes a difference,” said Tristan Israel, MVYRADIO Board member and Chair of the station’s Equity & Inclusion Action Group. “Since 2021, we have had the pleasure of helping local minority-owned businesses tell their unique story to our loyal, responsive listeners.”
This round of grants also went to two other businesses: Cape & Islands Produce in Hyannis and Vineyard Caribbean Cuisine in Falmouth and Oak Bluffs.
The next round of grant applications is now open until March 31, 2025. Grants will be given out in early April.
