Quick action by Jamestown’s volunteer firefighters has led to the successful rescue of a person stranded on rocks near Beavertail Road.
The Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department got the call at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22. Someone was stuck on the rocks close to 530 Beavertail Rd.
As soon as they arrived, firefighters started searching the shoreline. They brought in their all-terrain vehicle (ATV-1) and drone to help out.
The rescue team and drone operators found the stranded person. Luckily, they weren’t hurt, but they needed help getting back to shore.
The fire department shared on Facebook, “We got the person safely to shore and used our ATV to take them back to their car without any problems.”
Several units from the Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department pitched in, including R1, L1, C1, C2, SS-1/ATV-1, C4/D1, and E2.
The department gave a shout-out to everyone involved, saying, “Great work all around!”
