The Rogers High School girl’s basketball team put up a tough fight but ultimately lost to Narragansett 41-34 on Tuesday night at the Hut-Martin Recreation Center.

Despite a strong push to even the score in the third quarter, the Vikings couldn’t entirely close the gap.

Zaida Aponte stood out for Rogers, leading the team with 13 points. Abigail Hole added 8 points to the scoreboard, while Tameka Robertson and Tess Margolis contributed 4 and 2 points respectively.

The January 14 game saw Rogers keeping pace with Narragansett through the first half and into the third quarter. However, Narragansett managed to pull ahead in the final stretch of the game.

Rogers moves to 3-5 on the season and will next take on Coventry High School at Coventry on Wednesday, January 22. Narragansett moves to 9 -1 on the season and will take on Smithfield at Narragansett High School on Thursday, January 16.
