People’s Credit Union has been recognized for its unwavering commitment to community service, receiving the “Doing Well by Doing Good” Award. The award was bestowed upon the credit union by MasterCard as part of the 5th annual Mastercard Community Institutions Segment Awards.
This prestigious award acknowledges financial institutions that go above and beyond to positively impact their local communities. People’s Credit Union was among the five winners selected from 22 nominees across the country.
The credit union earned this accolade for its Day of Purpose, which took place on September 12, 2024. During this initiative, the credit union closed its branches and partnered with six Rhode Island nonprofit organizations to combat food insecurity. Employees dedicated their time to raising awareness and helping provide access to fresh, healthy produce for those in need.
“We are honored by MasterCard’s recognition of our Day of Purpose and the meaningful impact it had on our community,” said Sean Daly, Head of People’s Credit Union. “This award reflects our team’s continued commitment to be a catalyst for positive change in the community.”
Adam Brown, MasterCard’s Director, Account Management, Community Institutions, commended People’s Credit Union’s efforts. “This award is an impressive testament to People’s Credit Union’s commitment in bettering their community through charitable giving, volunteer hours, and programs that impact the lives of others,” said Brown. “Their passion, hard work, and dedication has not only impacted the community but inspired others to follow their lead.”
