The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) announced that its Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) will host a public workshop on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 5:30 PM to discuss proposed wildlife and hunting regulations. The workshop will take place at the DFW Outdoor Education Office, located at 1B Camp E-Hun-Tee in Exeter.
The proposed regulations stem from statutory changes made at the end of the 2024 legislative cycle and impact furbearing animals, the use of crossbows for turkey harvesting, and the salvage of wildlife killed in vehicle collisions.
Those interested in reviewing the draft regulations before the workshop can request copies by contacting David Kalb at David.Kalb@dem.ri.gov or by calling 401-284-3427.
The public can submit comments on the proposed regulations at the workshop or in writing to David Kalb at David.Kalb@dem.ri.gov by 4 PM on Monday, Dec. 10, 2024.
The DFW Outdoor Education Office is accessible from Frosty Hollow Road off Rt. 165 in Exeter. Follow the road past our Caretaker’s home and two other buildings on your left. Continue until you see signs for the DFW Education Office and parking.
