The Jane Pickens Theater & Event Center (The JPT) is kicking off the fall season with exciting films and events for guests to enjoy.
“The JPT’s weekend lineup has something for everyone. Whether you’re here for Concours and Motor Week, in search of a film to get into the fall spirit, or looking for a family-friendly movie, you’ll find the perfect choice at The JPT this weekend,” said Alex Whitney, General Manager of The JPT.
Legends of the Fall, 30th Anniversary Screening! (Friday, October 4, 7:30 PM)
With its majestic scenery and old-fashioned story, Legends of the Fall is the perfect film to usher in Autumn. In early 20th-century Montana, Col. William Ludlow (Anthony Hopkins) lives in the wilderness with his sons, Tristan (Brad Pitt), Alfred (Aidan Quinn), and Samuel (Henry Thomas). Eventually, the unconventional but close-knit family encounters tragedy when Samuel is killed in World War I. Tristan and Alfred survive their tours of duty, but, soon after they return home, both men fall for Samuel’s gorgeous fiancée, Susannah (Julia Ormond), and their intense rivalry begins to destroy the family. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy free apple cider donuts and tastings of local fall-themed alcoholic beverages in The JPT lobby to celebrate the start of fall pre-film. This weekend is also Audrain Newport Concours and Motor Week, which celebrates the history of sportsmanship and motoring in Newport. The JPT will show two classic car films, Bullitt and Cars, to mark the occasion.
Bullitt (Saturday, October 5, 7:30 PM)
Senator Walter Chalmers (Robert Vaughn) is aiming to take down mob boss Pete Ross (Vic Tayback) with the help of testimony from the criminal’s hothead brother Johnny (Pat Renella), who is in protective custody in San Francisco under the watch of police lieutenant Frank Bullitt (Steve McQueen). When a pair of mob hitmen enter the scene, Bullitt follows their trail through a maze of complications and double-crosses. This thriller includes one of the most famous car chases ever filmed. Cars (Sunday, October 6, 2:00 PM)
In a world where the towns are populated with cars, and even the bugs are mini motors, a young ambitious racing car called Lightning McQueen is a star. On his way to an important event, he has to stop in the little town of Radiator Springs after accidentally damaging the road and being forced to repair it. He finds living in a community oddly endearing, making true friends, and beginning to realize there’s more in life than winning. For tickets and more information on Cars, click here.
