The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) is expanding its recall of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to potential Listeria contamination. This expansion is part of a larger recall issued by BrucePac, which affects nearly 10 million pounds of products nationwide.

The recalled items were produced between June 19, 2024, and October 8, 2024, and bear establishment numbers 51205 or P-51205 inside or under the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) mark of inspection. They were shipped to various establishments, distributors, restaurants, and institutions across the country.

Consumers are urged to check the USDA website for a complete list of recalled products and labels, as more items may be added. The USDA advises restaurants and other establishments not to use or serve these products, but to discard or return them.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a bacterial infection that can cause symptoms like fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal issues. While no illnesses linked to these products have been reported, consumers who believe they may have eaten affected items and are experiencing symptoms should seek medical attention.
