Newport in Bloom is keeping its annual tradition alive, giving away 30,000 free Dutch Master daffodil bulbs to Aquidneck Island residents and businesses on Oct. 20. This marks the 15th year for this popular event.

The giveaway will be held at Easton’s Beach Rotunda from 10 am to 1 pm, regardless of the weather. Each household can pick up one bag containing two dozen bulbs, worth over $15 retail.

Newport in Bloom says in a press release, “This fall’s planting will bring our total to more than one and a half million daffodil bulbs planted or given away to brighten up our island communities.”

Founded in 1982, Newport in Bloom is a 501(c)(3) organization that depends on donations to fund this yearly bulb giveaway. They’re asking recipients to plant the bulbs where everyone can enjoy them come spring.
