Bristol, RI – Motorists using the Mount Hope Bridge should expect delays starting October 28th, as the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority announced a two-week inspection of the bridge. The inspection is scheduled to continue through November 11th, taking place daily from 9 am to 3 pm.

During the inspection, one lane of the bridge will be closed, with traffic alternating directions. The Authority warns residents to anticipate potential delays and allow for extra travel time.

Lori Caron Silveira, Executive Director of the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority, acknowledged that the upcoming two-week bridge inspection will cause delays and apologized for the inconvenience to residents. “Safety is always our top priority, and routine inspections like these are essential to maintaining the bridge’s integrity and ensuring it remains reliable for all who use it. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we carry out this necessary work.”
