The Fifth Element is changing hands once again.

The restaurant announced the transition on Instagram Tuesday, expressing gratitude to its patrons and revealing plans to hand over the 111 Broadway location to a new operator.

“We’re so thankful for your loyalty, support, and the great times we’ve shared over the past few years,” the post said. “We’ve gotten to know many of you, and it’s been a pleasure serving you. What an incredible journey it’s been.”

While the new owners weren’t named, they were described as “Rhode Island-based, community-oriented, seasoned restaurateurs.”

Update: On Tuesday afternoon, Chomp Kitchen and Drink announced on Facebook that it would be opening a third Chomp location at Fifth Element.

The current owners, who took over in September 2021, thanked their staff and the City of Newport, giving a special nod to Chief Duffy and the Newport Police Department for their support.

“To our amazing staff, thank you for being absolute rockstars – you’ve made this journey the success it was,” the post added.

This is the second ownership change for The Fifth Element in the last three years. Brad Cherevaty, Frank, and Anna Doyle sold the restaurant to the current group of owners in September 2021 after running it for 17 years.

The outgoing owners hinted at future plans for themselves, saying, “As we move on to our next venture, thank you for the memories.”
