I will be voting in the Primary on September 10th for Ellen Pinnock, Dir. of Community Engagement at FabNewport, as my First Ward Councilor for the following reasons.

1) First, as a Newport School Committee member, I have seen the yield Ellen has done at Thompson & Rogers to help Newport students and staff come together by leading with compassion – strengthening individual students’ resilience and strengthening student relationships.

2) Ellen was selected to represent North End and Newport residents on Ad-hoc Bridge Realignment Advisory Commission. She has knowledge of the site, has been involved with key individuals and has more knowledge than most on this project.

3) Ellen has built relationships with the Governor and others at the state level on both the North End Project and Educational Initiatives which will benefit Newport over the next 3-5 years.

4) Finally, Ellen was selected to receive the League of Women Voters’ Joan Arnold Community Service Award in 2023 and just recently selected to receive the Salve Regina Living the Mission Award for 2024! These awards are both for outstanding community contribution.

I look forward to Ellen adding her perspective and insight at Newport City Council meetings.
