Dear Newport Voters,

I am pleased to endorse Elizabeth (Beth) Cullen for the school committee. I first met Beth ten years ago when her son was a student at Cranston Calvert Elementary School and Thompson Middle School. Since then, I’ve admired her unwavering deep commitment to enhancing education.

Her passion for linking the arts with core subjects like math, science, reading, and technology demonstrates her desire to create a more inclusive and engaging learning environment for all students. At times, education strives for mastery within the school, but it is with impact that eclipses future generations.

The positions I held reflected sharing similar educational philosophies with Beth. We both believe that a well-rounded curriculum that integrates creativity with core academic skills leads to a more positive and dynamic student experience. Beth’s dedication to Newport as a whole prevails not only within the school district but throughout the community.

Beth is a tireless worker who constantly seeks to expand her understanding of educational best practices. In many school and public forums, I have seen firsthand how diligently she researches and listens, always striving to implement strategies that benefit students and teachers.

I’m confident that Beth will be a valuable asset to our educators. She is deeply committed to supporting teachers as they work to shape the future through innovative and creative approaches, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Sincerely,

Diane Sheehan
