Newport is gearing up for its annual Italian Heritage Parade, with Greg Gizzi at the helm as the 2024 Grand Marshal. Gizzi, a former president of Forum Lodge #391, Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, is set to lead the procession on October 14, 2024.

The parade kicks off at 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Church, winding its way through Newport’s historic streets. It’ll head south on Broadway, turn onto Thames Street, continue to America’s Cup Avenue, and finish up on Memorial Boulevard at the Columbus monument.

The big reveal of Gizzi’s role came during Forum’s John Panaggio Ziti Night, a fundraiser for the lodge’s Anna Ripa Scholarships. Lodge leaders didn’t hold back in praising Gizzi’s contributions to the organization.

The Italian Heritage Parade, a Newport tradition sponsored by Forum Lodge, doesn’t end when the last float passes by. An after-parade luncheon is scheduled for 12:30 pm at La Forge Restaurant.
