Four Newport hotels have been awarded coveted MICHELIN Keys, solidifying the city’s status as a premier luxury travel destination.
The MICHELIN Guide announced its latest additions to the One, Two, and Three Key hotel list across the United States on Thursday, September 12. This marks the second-ever announcement of MICHELIN Keys in the U.S., expanding the selection to include hotels nationwide.
All four Rhode Island hotels to earn Keys were located in Newport. Castle Hill Inn and Resort and The Chanler at Cliff Walk received Two Key designations, while The Cliffside Inn and The Vanderbilt were recognized with One Key each.
These accolades come as part of MICHELIN’s comprehensive refresh of its hotel selection, which now includes over 5,000 properties worldwide.
“These are places that significantly add to your experience as a traveler, each vetted and judged excellent in five categories,” the MICHELIN Guide states. The criteria include architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the guest experience in a particular setting.
The Keys represent the pinnacle of MICHELIN’s hotel ratings, akin to the renowned MICHELIN Stars for restaurants. The rigorous evaluation process involves countless hours of assessment by a team of experts.
With this latest announcement, the 2024 MICHELIN Guide hotel selection in the United States now boasts 16 Three Key hotels, 70 Two Key hotels, and 207 One Key hotels.
Newport’s strong showing in the MICHELIN Key rankings underscores the city’s reputation for exceptional hospitality and luxurious accommodations.
