Drift Cafe, a Newport eatery, is participating in the 2024 Newport Folk & Jazz Festivals with a pop-up booth, offering festival-goers a taste of its menu options.

Rob DePaula, owner of Drift Cafe, spoke with What’sUpNewp about the cafe’s involvement in the event.

“We’ve known about this festival forever, obviously, because it’s one of the best,” DePaula said. “We love being a part of our Newport community. So we really wanted to be part of this iconic event.”

Located at 190 Thames Street, Drift Cafe has been in downtown Newport for five summers. The cafe recently expanded, doubling its size.

“We just this past spring have opened up the space. It’s double the size now,” DePaula explained. “We just wanted to make sure we had a little more space for all of our locals that actually want to sit in and hang out with us.”

Drift Cafe is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and serves breakfast and lunch all day. The menu includes egg sandwiches, scrambles, acai bowls, and whole-food smoothies.

“We wanted to be kind of more on the healthy side,” DePaula said. “A lot of great options for food in Newport. We just wanted to have that one where it’s like, if you’ve had a lot of that filling food, it’s kind of nice to take a little break and eat something that, you know, is nice and healthy for you.”
