The U.S. Naval War College (NWC) has conducted its fourth Trans-Atlantic Maritime Command and Control Wargame (TAMC2 24), aimed at enhancing the interoperability of U.S. and NATO maritime forces in the trans-Atlantic region.
More than 150 participants from U.S. and NATO commands, including 52 allied nations took part in the multi-sided, seminar-style war game, which required coordination across multiple areas of operation spanning from northern Europe to the U.S. Atlantic coast.
The scenario, set in 2027, involved the joint operations of allied and partner forces to deter and defeat aggression against the U.S. and its allies.
At the end of the war game, the participants shared their observations, implications, and recommendations, which will be provided to the theatre operational forces and the most senior levels of the Navy for decision-making.
The war game, which is the fourth in a series of Naval Forces Northern Command (NAVNORTH) and Naval Forces Europe (NAVEUR) sponsored wargames, has helped in strengthening the command relationships between the U.S. and NATO maritime domain.
It will also improve the interoperability of U.S. and NATO forces in the trans-Atlantic region, which is a key area of strategic importance for the U.S. and its allies.
” GAMES like TAMC2 give our teams opportunities to grow our respective understanding, develop effective techniques and procedures to plan and execute together, and extend our campaign of learning with our allies,” said Rear Adm. Pete Garvin, president of NWC.
