A junior computer software engineer at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center announced her win of the Society of Women Engineers Helen Martha Sternberg Award for 2024.

Molly “Meagan” Haradon, a Mansfield resident, has been working for the division since October 2023. She holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Wentworth Institute of Technology and has worked on a variety of projects, including the redesign of the Mark 22 Mod2 Warhead Electronics Systems.

In her role, Haradon has been responsible for cross-checking the Requirement Verification Test Matrix spreadsheet, which contains about 500 requirements and associated test procedures for completeness. She has also traveled to Syracuse, New York, to meet with other Lockheed Martin team members to ensure communication and collaboration.

Haradon’s award was announced by Emily Pietrzak Callahan, SWE’s New England Shoreline Section representative, at the division’s annual awards ceremony on June 20.

“Ms. Haradon has demonstrated exceptional conscientiousness, professionalism, and organization skills,” said Pietrzak Callahan. “She thoroughly verifies the required verification test matrix to ensure all new hardware and software requirements are tested. Her proactive engagement with NUWC and industry partners, including traveling to Syracuse for collaboration, highlights her commitment. It’s with pleasure that we recognize her efforts with the Helen Martha Sternberg Award.”

The award is named in honor of a mathematician who worked at the Naval Undersea Systems Center New London Laboratory in Connecticut. The award was established in 1990 and is presented annually to a female employee who has an educational and work background similar to that of Helen Martha Sternberg.
