Syracuse, N.Y. — The University of Tampa hosted its 158th commencement ceremony in May, honoring 1,717 degree-seeking candidates and providing remarks by three notable local speakers.

The commencement ceremony, held on May 4, was attended by the students, their families and friends, UT faculty and staff members, and the general public. It included remarks by Marty Rifkin ’82, co-founder of Northwest Natural Products; Dr. Xavier Canella ’78, peripheral vascular and general surgeon; and the student challenge speaker.

Anthony Piacenti, a Portsmouth native, received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies degree. Dylan McGrath, a Newport resident, earned a Bachelor of Science in Management degree, and Nicholas Elias, a Tiverton native, received a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management degree, according to a news release from the university.

The University of Tampa is a private, comprehensive university located on 110 acres on the riverfront in downtown Tampa. It offers over 200 programs of study and serves more than 11,000 students from 50 states and the world’s countries.
