Newport was the focus of “Best Bite In Town” on the Food Network on Friday night.

For the show, Executive Producer Guy Fieri called upon his pal Noah Cappe to help find the “Best Bite In Town” in this new Food Network series, which premiered on Friday, April 12.

In each episode of “Best Bite in Town”, Noah assembles a Bite Club featuring two chefs, including Tiffani Faison, Shota Nakajima, Joe Sasto, Aarti Sequeira and Jet Tila. Together, they explore the local food scene in cities across the country, visiting six of the “most popular spots in each one”.

About the Newport episode, Food Network shares on its website, “Guy Fieri challenges Noah Cappe to travel to Newport, Rhode Island, with celebrity chefs Tiffani Faison and Shota Nakajima. Once in town, they check out the culinary scene to see which restaurants have the best food. They’ll taste everything from chowder and noodles to burgers and biscuits in the hunt for what they think is the most amazing dish”.

During the Newport episode, judges visited Mission, Giusto, Yagi Noodles, Flo’s Clam Shack, Stoneacre Brasserie, and Perro Salado – trying two dishes at each restaurant.

Here’s what was served up at each restaurant for the judges;

  • Mission served up their Bacon Cheeseburger and Taylor Ham and Egg Breakfast Sandwich.
  • Giusto served up their Scotch Meatball and Street Corn Ravioli.
  • Yagi Noodles served up their Squash Blossom Rangoon and Tantanmen Bowl.
  • A Stuffie and Chowder were served at Flo’s Clam Shack.
  • Stoneacre Brasserie served up a Tuna Flash and Duck Confit.
  • Perro Salado served up Sticky Pork Ribs and a Lobster Quesadilla.

After scouring the town and tasting a wide variety of cuisines, Noah and the Bite Club nominate three exceptional dishes to present to a panel of esteemed culinary judges to determine the Best Bite In Town.

The dishes competing in the finale were Mission’s Taylor Ham and Egg Breakfast Sandwich, The Scotch Meatball at Giuso, and Stoneacre Brasserie’s Duck Confit.

In the end, the panel of judges named Mission’s Taylor Ham Breakfast Sandwich the “Best Bite In Town.” The restaurant received a check for $5,000 to use and another check for $5,000 to donate to their favorite charity.

Season 1, Episode 8 (Newport) debuted on the Food Network on Friday, May 24 at 9 pm. It aired again on Saturday, May 25 at 12 am, and on Sunday, May 26 at 2 pm.

  1. The winning Taylor ham and cheese sandwich is nowhere to be found on the Mission Burger online menu. I thought they’d want to monopolize on that.

  2. Taylor ham , egg, and cheese is a NEW JERSEY classic. Delicious and iconic, but hardly representative of New England or Newport.

  3. Beth … As a past RI resident (been in Florida for 30ish years now), I watched the show and then went to the Mission website … I clicked on all items and then mornings and it was there … so I wonder is this an item that is only on weekends?
    excited that Naples FL now has a Flo’s!!!
