The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA) today announced that lane restrictions on the Mount Hope Bridge has been lifted, with the completion of a cable air flow testing project two weeks ahead of schedule.
The project was part of a broader plan to dehumidify the bridge, and will help extend its life by an additional 50 to 75 years, RITBA officials say.
“Thanks to the efficient work of our contractor, we are happy to share that this phase of work has been completed two weeks early,” said Lori Caron Silveira, Executive Director of RITBA. “We aim to extend the life of this historic bridge by 50 to 75 years with this project and appreciate everyone’s interest and patience.”
