The James L. Maher Center Garden Center will be offering free soil testing on the second Saturday of every month during the spring season

The free tests are part of a partnership between the Maher Center and URI Master Gardeners. The next testing will take place on May 11 from 10 am to 12 pm during the Center’s Spring Craft Fair.

Soil samples should be about a cup in size. Once collected, they should be spread out on a paper plate or newspaper to allow it to dry. Soil should then be poured into a labeled clean paper or plastic bag. Testing will take place at the Garden Center located at 910 Aquidneck Ave. Middletown, RI.

The next event will be held on Saturday, May 11 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm as part of the Center’s Spring Craft Fair. Remember to prepare a soil sample of about one cup from your garden. Spread it out on a paper plate or newspaper to allow it to dry. Pour soil into a labeled clean paper or plastic bag.
