Dr. Anna Matos-Mournighan

The Edward King House Senior Center on Tuesday announced the departure of Deputy Director Dr. Anna Matos-Mournighan as she transitions to a new role at Salve Regina University.

After eight years of dedicated service, Dr. Anna will be stepping down from her position at the Edward King House Senior Center to pursue an exciting opportunity at as Visiting Professor and Graduate Program Director for Healthcare Administration at Salve Regina University. During her tenure, Anna has made significant contributions to our center’s mission committed to serving the 50+ population of Newport County as a hub for resources and opportunities that support adult learning, independent living and an enriched quality of life and her leadership will be greatly missed.

“We are grateful for Anna’s exemplary service and commitment to the Edward King House Senior Center,” said Carmela Geer, Executive Director “Her contributions have been instrumental in helping us achieve National Accreditation and working so closely with institutions of higher learning.  We wish her the very best in her new role at Salve Regina University and know that she will continue to make a positive impact in her new endeavor.”

During this transition, the Edward King House Senior Center continues to provide quality programs and services as it restructures its leadership and searches for new candidates to fulfill important roles, ensuring continuity and excellence. We remain committed to our myriad of offerings both on and off site that encourage a life of self-direction, empowerment, enrichment, and energy for older adults in our community, including the Newport for All Ages Initiative.

Dr Matos-Mournighan expressed her gratitude for the experience at the Edward King House and excitement for the new opportunity. “I am thankful for the support and collaboration I have experienced at the EKHSC,” she said. “I look forward to bringing my skills and passion for lifelong learning to Salve Regina, and I am confident that our paths will cross again in meaningful ways.”

The Edward King House Senior Center extends its warmest wishes to Anna as she embarks on this new chapter. We invite the community to join us in celebrating her achievements and wishing her continued success.
