Murray Charron, a Jamestown resident and 25-year commercial lending veteran, has been hired as vice president and senior commercial loan officer at BankNewport.
Prior to joining BankNewport, Charron held the position of vice president of commercial lending at HarborOne Bank in Providence, R.I. He has held leadership positions in other retail and mortgage-based financial institutions in the Boston and southern New England markets. He is a graduate of Appalachian State University and has served on numerous community boards, including the Adoption RI organization.
Charron will focus on expanding the bank’s commercial loan portfolio with an emphasis on renewable energy and ESOP financing. He will collaborate with commercial lenders, cash management partners, and branch managers across the organization’s market area to support the bank’s strategic growth goals. At BankNewport, Charron will be instrumental in driving the growth of the commercial loan portfolio, which supports the bank’s mission of providing comprehensive financial services to individuals and communities throughout Rhode Island. He will be an important driver of the bank’s strategic expansion as it seeks to capitalize on the growing opportunities in renewable energy and ESOP financing.
