The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) will host a virtual town hall meeting on Wednesday, April 17, to discuss the current status of the state’s general aviation airports.

The public information session will be held at noon and is open to local officials and members of the public. The session will be held via Zoom. A link will be posted on the Rhode Island Secretary of State’s website and at https://flyri.com on the day of the meeting.

The virtual briefing will allow RIAC to provide updates on state airports across Rhode Island, including those that are hosting or abutting the state’s five general aviation airports. The airports include Block Island, Newport, North Central, Quonset, and Westerly State Airports.

According to a release from RIAC, the meetings are an opportunity for the public and local officials to engage with RIAC regarding state airports and to learn about the progress of the airports.

RIAC is a semi-autonomous corporation that was formed in 1992 in order to operate and maintain the state’s airport system. The corporation is responsible for the supervision of all civil airports, landing areas, navigation facilities, aviation schools and flying clubs. The corporation also operates and maintains the six state-owned airports.
