Turas

Today, The Jane Pickens Theater (The JPT) announced the upcoming performance of Turas on Saturday, March 16 in a St. Patrick’s Day Eve concert that will feature traditional Irish and Celtic music and modern compositions.

Turas – which means “journey” in Gaelic – is made up of four singers and many instruments, including Bob Drouin, cofounder of the Celtic band; Pendragon, on fiddle flute and guitar; Josh Kane on the flute and whistle; Rob McConeghy on piano and guitar; and Dean Robinson on bodhran, bones, djembe, and whistle.

“Just as The JPT is synonymous with Newport so too is St. Patrick’s Day. We’re proud to welcome back Turas band for a special live performance to get the community in the holiday spirit,” said Alex Whitney, General Manager at The JPT.

The performance will start at 5:30 pm and consist of two 45-minute sets with a 15-minute intermission. Tickets can be purchased at the event center or online for $22.

The JPT features a complete concession stand for patrons to enjoy, including Guinness for this special event. Click here for tickets and more information.
