The 68th Annual Newport Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will be held, rain, snow, or shine, on Saturday, March 16, 2024. 

The Parade will begin promptly at 11:00 am in front of Newport City Hall and will proceed to Carroll Avenue at Saint Augustin’s Church.

The parade this year is estimated to last 2 hours and will include Pipe Bands, Marching Bands, Fife & Drum Corps, Clown Units, reenactment units, and a host of local, state, and regional organizations including police and fire units, social/fraternal organizations, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Schools, and non-profits.

Brick Alley Pub

The Brick Alley Pub will host their famous St. Patrick’s Parade Day Breakfast Buffet from 8 am to 10:30 am. Their regular menu will be available beginning at 11 am—no cover charge.

Busker’s Irish Pub

Buskers will be open at 8 am, serving their famous traditional Irish Breakfast. Brian Twohey will perform from 2 pm to close. No cover.

Diego’s Newport

Diego’s will open at 8:30 a.m. and serve brunch. They will also serve green margaritas and corned beef tacos all day. There is a $5 cover after 12 pm.

Dockside

The Dockside on Waite’s Wharf opens at 10 am. Those Guys and The Complaints will provide live music all day long. There will be a cover.

Fastnet Pub

The Fastnet Pub typically opens at 8:30 am for its annual Parade Day Celebration. They will have 6 Nations Rugby – Ireland vs. Scotland on at 12:45 pm.

Gas Lamp Grille

Hibernian Hall

Historically, the Ancient Order of Hibernians has hosted a post-parade celebration at the Hibernian Hall, beginning at noon. Details to come.

La Forge Casino Restaurant

Dave Manuel will be providing live music on the piano all day.

Malt On Broadway

Malt will be open at 9:00 am on parade day; they will serve a traditional Irish breakfast and have lots of Corned beef on the menu all week. No cover.

Martin Recreation Center “The Hut

The 15th Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Family Celebration, a non-alcohol event, will occur at the Martin Recreation Center “The Hut” from 1 pm to 4 pm. Entertainment will include bag pipers, Irish step dancers, pirates, face painting, and more. There will be a “How Green Am I” contest with a cash prize ($150, 100, & 50) and a $100 cash door prize!   There will also be giveaways. Entry is free! Enjoy a classic good time at no cost and a chance to win prizes and money!

Midtown Oyster Bar

Midtown Oyster Bar will open at 10 a.m. and offer two floors of music throughout the day. Sean Rivers will perform downstairs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Blockhead will perform from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and DJ Fred da Great will perform upstairs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. $10 cover at 10 am. $20 cover beginning at 12 pm.

Museum of Newport Irish History

The Museum of Newport Irish History Interpretive Center will be open on Parade Day from 12 noon to 5:00 pm.  Located near the end of the parade route at 648 Lower Thames Street, visitors to the Center will learn about Irish immigration to Newport County from the colonial era to the present and, of the many contributions made to our community by individuals of Irish descent. The exhibits include maps, photographs, models, video,  and artifacts, including some from the construction of Fort Adams. Check out our new exhibit on the Kinsale-Newport Sister City relationship, celebrating 25 years of “Twinning” in 2024.  Admission by donation. Museum members are free. Enjoy live music with Zenith, Angelus Hall, and Never In Vegas (at 9:30 pm) throughout the day. Cover.

O’Brien’s Pub

O’Brien’s Pub will open at 9 am for its annual Parade Day party. Get there early to get your hands on one of their collectible Parade Day t-shirts (available to the first 500 guests).

On Parade Day, Neutral Nation and We Own Land will perform live music at Rejects Beer Co. in Middletown. The show will start at 3 p.m.

Neutral Nation is kicking off its 2024 shows with this ‘Post-St. Paddy’s Day Parade/Stumpy’s 55th Afternoon Throwdown’ with our great friends and Newport’s finest, in what is also their first show of ’24, We Own Land!

Enjoy live music from Dave Alves from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and live music from The Duderinos from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Open at 9 a.m.

Surf Club

The doors open at 10 a.m., and the Brian Scott Band will jam from 1 to 5 p.m. The Surf Shack will also be open at 10 a.m.

The Firehouse Theater

Wharf Southern Kitchen will open at 10 a.m. They’ll be offering a Traditional Irish Boiled Dinner and more.
