The Rose Island Lighthouse & Fort Hamilton Trust–a 501c3 nonprofit organization that works to preserve the historic and environmental integrity of Rose Island and maintain the lighthouse as open for public access and education–is offering this opportunity to Rhode Island-based artists to come stay on the island for 6 nights in mid-September to work on their projects. Up to 8 artists may be selected for participation. Artists whose work may be uniquely inspired by the environment and/or history of Rose Island are encouraged to apply.

“Rose Island is such an incredible backdrop for the creative arts. It is an iconic and storied location in the Narragansett Bay with many layers of fascinating history and an important wildlife refuge for many species of birds. We’re excited to see what Rhode Island artists propose in their application submissions and the ways they will integrate Rose Island into their ideas”, said Sean O’Connor, Executive Director of the Trust.

A link to the application can be accessed online at http://tinyurl.com/rose-residency2024 or go to our website at roseisland.org and access the 2024 Artists Residency page in the Events menu. Applications will be accepted through April 10.
