The Bristol Oyster Bar is gearing up for the return of its signature event, Oyster Madness, a monthlong bracket-style competition that pairs local oyster farms against each other in a race to win the title of the best oyster in Rhode Island.

The competition, which was originally launched in 2017, is slated to run from Feb. 26 through March 28 and will showcase the finest and freshest oysters from the Rhode Island waters.

“This is an opportunity to bring the community together to savor some of the finest and freshest oysters from the Rhode Island waters,” said Jordan Sawyer, owner of Bristol Oyster Bar. “We are excited to partner with both The Ocean State Shellfish Cooperative and Whalers Brewing Company to bring back this competition and give the participating farms the opportunity to showcase their product.”

In-person voting will take place every week, Monday through Thursday, and participants will receive eight oysters for $10. Each vote will enter participants to win prizes from the event sponsors. The winners of the competition will be announced in the final week of March.
