Newport officials are seeking public input on the City’s next City Manager as part of a nationwide search for a new leader for the city.

The City of Newport has released an online survey to help inform the hiring process. Residents, business owners and other interested parties can share their priorities for the next City Manager, including leadership qualities and the most pressing needs they would like to see addressed.

City officials say all respondents will be asked to submit questions that could be asked by City Councilors during an upcoming interview process. The survey is available online and will remain open through the end of February.

The City of Newport operates under a City Council-Manager form of government and the City Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of City government as well as managing the city’s workforce of approximately 350 people.
