A third annual food drive to benefit the Martin Luther King Community Center in Newport is underway, and organizers are hoping to raise more than 3,000 pounds of food for the nonprofit that serves more than a million meals to Newport County residents throughout the year.
The drive, which is sponsored by Jeff Brooks of Hogan Associates Christie’s International Real Estate, runs through March 4 and also accepts cash donations.
Community members are asked to place non-perishable foods in one of the red bins outside the Hogan Associates office at 294 Valley Rd in Middletown, R.I., or by dropping them off directly at the Martin Luther King Community Center at 20 Dr. Marcus F. Wheatland Blvd. in Newport, R.I.
To donate food, mention Jeff Brooks by name to add to the tally.
Cash donations are also welcome.
