Updates as they happen;
Gov: Announces 8 new COVID-19 related deaths, total now 43. There are 277 more positive COVID-19 cases, brings total to 1,727 in Rhode Island. 160 people are now hospitalized.
Director of Health: Eight new deaths range in ages from 20’s to 90’s. One in 20’s, one in 40’s, one in 60’s, one in 70’s, one in 80’s, and one in 90’s. Notes that the person in their 20’s had underlying health conditions.
Director of Health: Says 277 new cases today are a reflection of the expanding testing (more people being tested daily).
Gov: 1,800 tests administered on Wednesday. She says per capita testing is far ahead of MA, CT, and most states.
Gov: Due to inclement weather, drive-thru testing sites are being shut down today. Scheduled tests will be rescheduled.
Gov: Signed Executive Order to make quarantine rules clearer; if you’ve been diagnosed positive, you must isolate until you no longer have symptoms, “you cannot leave your house”. If sick, do your best to isolate in your house and stay away from the others in your house. Gov. says RIDOH will develop new regulations for quarantine, with civil penalties if you disobey.
