Two new exhibitions opening at Jamestown Arts Center

The Jamestown Arts Center (JAC) announced today the opening reception of their annual Members’ Show Friday, November 1st 6 – 8 pm.

The Exhibition showcases artwork created by the diverse and talented artists in the community and beyond. Local artists are invited to submit one piece that fits within the 30” size requirement. All artwork that meets exhibition requirements is installed in this non-juried show.

Artists will be awarded prizes by awards Judge Jan Howard, Chief Curator RISD Museum and Houghton P. Metcalf Jr. Curator of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs. “Best in Show” winner will be awarded a solo show in the JAC’s small gallery during the 2020 Members’ Show. Prizes will be awarded at the opening reception!

The “Best in Show” winner from the 2018 Members’ Show, Teddy Trocki-Ryba will be exhibiting his solo exhibition titled Virtual Memory. Teddy Trocki-Ryba is a Rhode Island based visual artist & photographer working with photogrammetry, virtual reality, 3d printing and projection to create installation based artworks which deal with issues such as the fragmentation of memory, historical preservation, and the ways in which space shapes experience.

Teddy was awarded “Best in Show” at the 2018 Members’ Show by 2018 Awards judge Roger Mandle: Senior Advisor to the Chair of the Board of Qatar Museums Authority; former Executive Director and Chief Museum Officer, QMA; Visiting Professor, Graduate Program in Museum Studies, Brown University; former President of Rhode Island School of Design; Deputy Director, National Gallery of Art; Director of Toledo Museum of Art; member National Council on the Arts.

The Jamestown Arts Center invited the public to join them for the opening reception of these exhibitions on Friday, November 1st from 6 pm – 8 pm. These exhibitions will run through December 5th with gallery hours from Wednesday – Saturday, 10am – 2pm or by appointment. Our galleries will be closed Thanksgiving day, but open Friday and Saturday Thanksgiving weekend.
