AmpSurf has announced that it will hold its third annual adaptive surfing clinic at Second Beach in Middletown, RI on September 14th 2019.
The event starts at 8 am and involves adaptive surf therapy with certified adaptive surf instructors. The adaptive surfing clinic is free for anyone with any kind of disability. There are still a few participant spots open and volunteers are needed. Anyone interested in participating or volunteering must register at ampsurf.org.
AmpSurf™ is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2003 in California. Today AmpSurf has operations in California, New England, and New York with the goal of encouraging injured veterans, adults and children living with disabilities to focus on their abilities through adaptive surfing therapy. AmpSurf clinics provide a great opportunity for both participants and volunteers to come together and feel the joy and healing of the ocean and the therapeutic effects of adaptive surfing.
AmpSurf began operating in New England at Long Sands Beach in York, Maine in 2011. Over the past two years, AmpSurf has wrapped up its summer surf season with clinics at Sachuest Beach. We are happy to announce that with the support of the Town of Middletown, RI and some local sponsors, AmpSurf will be back at Second Beach on September 14th. Once again, participants and volunteers will get free coffee, muffins and pizza provided by our local sponsors.

9/11 Paddle Out
AmpSurf also announced today that it will hold its annual 9/11 Paddle Out on Wednesday September 11th, 2019.
This year’s paddle out will happen across the country in three locations at 10:28am, the time the North Tower collapsed in New York. Each AmpSurf Chapter; California, New York and New England will observe the moment with a paddle out and remembrance wreath laying in the ocean. The New England paddle out will be at Surfer’s End in Middletown RI. The California paddle out will be held at the Addie St. Beach access in Pismo Beach, CA. The New York paddle out will be at the 9-11 Memorial in Breezy Point NY. All are invited to attend these events on shore or in the water, those going into the water must bring their own surf gear, including surfboard and be able to get in and out of the water for the event on their own.
Anyone who is unable to attend these three events is encourages to assemble on their own and paddle out at their local break or any body of water to mark the moment.
