The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) recommends closing Gooseberry, Hazards and Fort Adams Beaches in Newport for swimming because of high bacteria levels.
RIDOH recommends re-opening Surfer’s End Beach at Sachuest Beach in Middletown because bacteria have returned to acceptable levels.
