Innovate Newport, in collaboration with RI Bio, is pleased to announce that RI Bio’s Executive Director, Carol Malysz, and the organization’s new Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR), John “Jay” Round, will speak during Innovate Newport’s “Tuesday Talks” on September 10 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.  *Tuesday Talks is Innovate Newport’s weekly series – held in the IN Cafe every Tuesday from 12:30-1:30, free and open to the public.

Additionally, there will be a cocktail reception to welcome RI Bio’s new EIR to the Newport community on September 12 from 6:00-7:00pm. (Please RSVP to director@innovatenewport.org if you’re interested in attending.) Mr. Round will have office hours at the Innovate Newport building and will also be available to schedule private consultation appointments with Innovate Newport community members.

The Entrepreneur in Residence’s mission is to provide Rhode Island entrepreneurs, in the life sciences field, access to hands-on experience in how to launch and grow a company. Mr. Round has worked in the bio industry since 2006 including, most recently, as a life sciences investment consultant for Slater Technology Fund in Providence, RI.

Mr. Round will help business owners in the in the life sciences field to better understand regulatory issues, technology transfer, funding streams and how to connect and collaborate with academic partners.

“RI Bio is excited about partnering with Innovate Newport to offer life sciences expertise and resources to entrepreneurs in the greater Newport area.” said Carol Malysz, executive director of RI Bio. “We know that by working together, we can grow the life sciences ecosystem in RI and transform the state into a recognized leader as a life sciences innovation hub.” she continued.

“We cannot wait to have John “Jay” Round as an entrepreneur in residence here at Innovate Newport and to be collaborating with an organization like RI Bio that helps connect and promote the life sciences community throughout Rhode Island.” said Tuni Schartner, Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Innovate Newport. “Under the leadership of Carol Malysz, RI Bio has skyrocketed, and we are excited to be able to work with her and this great organization.”
