Portsmouth Police cracking down on those who fail to stop at crosswalks for pedestrians

The Portsmouth Police Department announced on Facebook this morning that during a 4 hour period this morning and yesterday morning, they have issued numerous traffic citations for failure to stop at a crosswalk for a pedestrian.

The Portsmouth Police say they utilized police officers wearing civilian clothes to enter the crosswalk on Turnpike Avenue, near the Portsmouth High School, and attempted to cross the street.

“Please keep all our pedestrians safe! Remember to yield to pedestrians crossing in our crosswalks especially now that school is starting” they said.
