Congressional and other Defense leaders are set to speak at the Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance’s (SENEDIA) Sixth Annual Defense Innovation Days event at the Newport Marriot August 26 – 28.

Defense Innovation Days is SENEDIA’s annual three-day event highlighting innovation and technology in the defense arena – from undersea technology and cybersecurity, to the warfighter’s perspectives.

Several prominent Department of Defense leaders will be participating including: James “Hondo” Guerts, Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development & Acquisition (ASN RDA) and Vice Admiral Nancy Norton, Director, Defense Information Systems Agency.

Congressional leaders speaking include: U.S. Senator Jack Reed (RI), Ranking Member Senate Armed Services Committee; U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (RI); U.S. Congressman Jim Langevin (RI); U.S. Congressman David Cicilline (RI); U.S. Congressman Joe Courtney (CT); and U.S. Congressman Bill Keating (MA).

This year SENEDIA is again collaborating with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport’s Advanced Naval Technology Exercise (ANTX) 2019. ANTX demonstrates future Navy technologies and provides a low-risk environment in which scientists and engineers can evaluate their technological innovations at the research and development level.

The opening session of ANTX will be in the afternoon on 28 August, just after the closing session of Defense Innovation Days.

The Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance is a catalyst for thought leadership and innovation in undersea technology, cybersecurity and defense technologies. The organization is focused on growing regional opportunities in the defense and homeland security sectors and facilitates associated workforce development efforts.
