On a day where the group behind Mission, Winner Winner, and Thames Street Kitchen (TSK) grew by one with the addition of Mission Middletown, What’sUpNewp can report that the Mission crew already has it’s sight on opening and operating a fifth restaurant on Aquidneck Island.
The team behind Mission, TSK and Winner Winner, will be partnering with Dovetail + Co on restaurant operations at The Wayfinder Hotel in Newport.
Currently operating as The Mainstay Hotel and North End Steakhouse at 151 Admiral Kalbfus Road, the property and will undergo major renovations this winter before a re-introduction as The Wayfinder Hotel in Summer 2020.
In January, accomplished hotel developer Phil Hospod announced the launch of Dovetail + Co. The company’s first acquisition, in partnership with JEM Holdings, was the Mainstay Hotel.
“Mission is the perfect restaurant group for The Wayfinder’s offbeat, fun and casual experience,” Phil Hospod, CEO and founder of Dovetail + Co. told What’sUpNewp on Monday. “They get it: local, delectable food from the basics to the unexpected. All done extremely well.”
The Mission crew will create a new concept for The Wayfinder that will replace the North End Steakhouse and will be “a delicious mashup of Mission’s low-brow brilliance and TSK’s adventurous palate”, according to Hospod.

The Mission Group, a family run, local, restaurant group, opened the famed Thames Street Kitchen (TSK) back in 2011, then came Mission (Newport), Winner Winner, TSK 2.0, and now Mission Middletown.
The second Mission location opened earlier today just steps from Easton’s Beach at 58 Aquidneck Avenue, marking the fourth restaurant for the Mission Group. Mission Middletown will follow suit of its big sister in Newport, with house-made burgers, hot dogs, and fries. With additions to the menu like milkshakes and weekly burger specials to come.
