Beer and running event series, the Craft Brew Races, returns to the Ocean State yet again for the Craft Brew Races Newport on July 20th, 2019.

A portion of the proceeds from the Craft Brew Races Newport will be donated to the Rhode Island Brewers Guild in support of the growth of craft beer and brewing in Rhode Island. The event is produced by Gray Matter Marketing.

The Newport Craft Brew Race course is 3.1 mile/5K run (or walk) around Fort Adams State Park. The run is timed, and prizes will be awarded to the top three males and females, as well as the fastest team, largest team, and largest brewery team. “The Craft Brew Races Newport is a great event because the location within Fort Adams and the atmosphere is so special,” says Chip Samson, one of the owners at Shaidzon Beer Company in West Kingston. “Last year, we had a team of three runners representing Shaidzon all of whom ran in our Little Bella tank tops. We had a great time with our fellow RI breweries, the Rhode Island Brewing Society homebrew club, getting to meet new people attending the event, and brewers from further reaching places that came.”

The festival will feature more than 15 Rhode Island breweries this year, as well as 40 more from around New England. Local breweries include: Ravenous Brewing, Crooked Current, Smug Brewing, Ragged Island Brewing, Apponaug Brewing, Taproot Brewing, Proclamation Ale Company, Newport Craft Brewing & Distilling, Providence Brewing Company, Shaidzon Beer Co., Foolproof Brewing, Grey Sail Brewing, Whalers Brewing, Revival Brewing and Sons of Liberty.

“We find the craft beer races to be one of the best beer festivals in Rhode Island,” says Jason Lourenco, owner at Crooked Current Brewery in Pawtucket. “Its emphasis on local beer, combined with the unique aspect of a race make it fun for all craft beer enthusiasts in attendance. Crooked Current Brewery looks forward to this event every summer!”

The 5K starts at noon, with the festival doors opening at 12:30PM. All 5K participants and festival-goers receive a pint glass and entry to the festival — including all beer sampling, live music, vendors and food trucks selling onsite. All designated driver ticket-holders receive a different bracelet at registration, and are welcome to enjoy the festival, designated snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages.
