The Arts & Cultural Alliance of Newport County announced today that they will host “Raise Up the Arts! Artist Awards Party & Fundraiser”, a celebration of the artists of Newport County, on June 5, 2019 at 6:00 pm at VUE in Newport.

According to the announcement, this inspiring night will feature one-night-only performances from the inaugural recipients of the ACA’s new Artist Awards and the 3rd annual Tinney Family Arts Scholarship winner. Liz and Emlen Drayton will be honored as this year’s Dominique Alfandre award recipients for their stalwart support of the arts and non-profit organizations in the Newport community. We are delighted to welcome Sebastian Ruth, the Founder and Artistic Director of Community Musicworks and recipient of a MacArthur “genius grant” in 2010, as our guest speaker.  Ruth will share his thoughts about and experiences with creating community through the arts. Of course, we’ll have plentiful tasty treats from VUE, a cash bar, and a silent auction.

All proceeds from Raise Up the Arts! will go towards funding our new Artist Awards. The only grant specifically for artists of any discipline in the six towns of Newport County, the Artist Awards champion exciting and interesting arts activities and events presented in and for our community.

Tickets are $40 for non-members and $25 for members. Presenting sponsor tickets are $100. Tickets can be purchased at
