A local group is on a mission to cleanup “every inch of beach from the Mt. Hope Bridge to the Sakonnet River Bridge”.

The cleanups are being hosted by Common Fence Point Global Awareness Local Action, CFP GALA, a brand new organization with the mission to build a resilient, thriving, regenerative Aquidneck Island Community through fun moments that connect people with neighbors and the beautiful place we all call home.

“There is likely over 3,000 lbs of trash to be picked up with an additional 25lbs, per mile, per week wash ashore from the Bay. Since 2016 we’ve picked up 6,000 lbs,” Jono Bixby wrote to What’sUpNewp!

Each event is kid-friendly and participants are encouraged to wear weather appropriate clothing, closed toe shoes, bring H2O, and work gloves (if you have them).

Meet at the designated location for cleanup supplies, directions to access points, and to drop off bags for weighing.
