Newport Art Museum’s Art After Dark, which recently received the 2017 Editor’s Pick Award for Best Artsy Social Event by Rhode Island Monthly Magazine, is back on Thursday, December 13 from 5 – 9 pm. Each Art After Dark has unique programming for the whole family. This event joins the ranks of the many events and educational programs the Museum currently offers in its galleries at 76 Bellevue Avenue, Newport. Admission to Art After Dark is free for Museum members and is a $10 suggested donation for non-members. Light refreshments and cash bar will be available.
This month, Art After Dark will celebrate the season with the festive grand opening of the Faculty & Student Holiday Arts & Crafts Sale. Each year, the artists and craftspeople who study art at the Museum’s School in the Coleman Center for Creative Studies are invited to participate in the sale and share the vast array of their original work with the community. Luxurious Japanese silk clutch bags, fine jewelry, beautiful ceramic pieces, original prints, photographs and paintings, textile works, handmade ornaments and all in store. While shopping, enjoy live music in the galleries by Seagrass, an acoustic trio that draws from the deep well of American folk styles with a blend of southern mountain music, bluegrass, and Americana. Light appetizers and cash bar make this evening a holiday delight!
The sale will continue Friday and Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm, but first dibs will be on Thursday. Find the perfect handmade, special something. Maybe you need a teacher gift, stocking stuffer, stunning gift for a loved one, hostess gift or a treat for yourself. The Museum’s accomplished artist instructors and students have created just the thing for you!
