Newport, RI – The following road and lane closure notices are effective for the near future, according to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) and Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA).

All schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.

RIDOT (December 1 – 7)

Weekday

 Middletown: Rte. 138A (Aquidneck Ave.) at Green End Ave., alternating lane closures for construction, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please note: this operation is anticipated to last through Fri., Dec. 7.

Newport: Third St. North and South, from Sycamore St. to Cypress St., alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Tues. from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Delays possible.

 Portsmouth
: Rte. 138 (East Main Rd.) East and West, from Boyds Lane to Turnpike Ave., shoulder closures for construction, Mon.-Fri. from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 Portsmouth: Rte. 138 (East Main Rd.) North, from Hargraves Dr. to Turnpike Ave., right lane closed for drainage work, Mon.-Tues. from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Portsmouth: Boyds Ln. North and South, between Chase Rd. and Anthony Rd., alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Tues.-Wed. from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Portsmouth: Freeborn St. East and West, between West Main Rd. and Dexter St., alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Thurs.-Fri. from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

RITBA (December 2 – 8)

Claiborne Pell Bridge:  

  • Eastbound Alternating Lane Closures- 12/3 to 12/7- 9 am to 3 pm Westbound
  • Alternating Lane Closures- 12/3 to 12/7- 9 am to 3 pm
  • Overnight: Westbound Alternating Lane Closure- 12/2 to 12/6- 7 pm to 3 am

Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge

  • There are currently no Lane Closures on the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge.

Route 138 Connector

  • There are currently no Lane Closures on the Route 138 Connector.

Mount Hope Bridge
