Newport, RI – While on the scene of a multi-alarm house fire on Powel Avenue on Sunday afternoon, Newport Fire Department was dispatched to a call for a body reported in the water by the causeway to Goat Island.
At approximately 4:48 pm, it was reported that the victim was recovered in cardiac arrest and taken to Newport Hospital by the Jamestown Fire Department. CPR was in progress during transport.
Officials have only identified the victim as a female and have confirmed that after being transported to Newport Hospital she was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.
