In one of the most competitive matches of this year’s Newport Polo Season, the home team, USA, squeaked out a victory over visiting England, 10 to 9 on Saturday.

USA took a quick 5 to 0 lead, before England, playing on borrowed horses, began chipping away at the lead, but never able to do more than a brief tie. A year ago, England also had a burst of scoring, but in that match it was enough to overtake Newport in the final seconds.

When Newport/USAss plays international opponents, the opponents borrow horses from the Newport Club for the match.
