Newport to Nashville returns to The Newport Playhouse & Cabaret Restaurant on Thursday, June 14th.

Referred to by organizer and owner Jonathan Perry as “Newport’s First Listening Room”, Newport To Nashville transforms The Newport Playhouse & Cabaret Restaurant every month into a “Nashville Style” Listening Room. The goal of Newport To Nashville is to showcase local and national songwriters performing their own original songs. Newport to Nashville is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing space for musicians and fans alike to enjoy music.

“Our goal is to provide a venue for up & coming songwriter’s and national recording artists to perform and feature their original songs.  The space encourages songwriter’s to collaborate with other musicians and share their passion with their fans.  Join us and be the first to hear a new hit song before it is even on the radio,” Perry states on the Newport To Nashville website.

In this songwriter round on Thursday, four performers from across the country will take the stage for an entertaining and intimate evening of live, acoustic, and original music.

The event, which is scheduled to start at 6 pm, will feature Jacob Paul Allen, Matt York, Terry Kitchen, and Thomas Signoretti.

Meet The Musicians

Jacob Paul Allen – Jacob Paul Allen is a singer/songwriter born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Nelson County, Virginia. When listening to his music you get a strong sense of his Appalachian roots and rural upbringing. His musical style and songwriting is derived from many different influences ranging from Folk/Country icon John Prine to rock legend Tom Petty. Jacob is also heavily influenced by the sounds of 90’s Country music as well as the artists and bands in the Red Dirt/Texas Country scene. Whether he is performing solo or with his band, Jacob is sure to make his Country roots known.

Now living in Nashville TN, Jacob is continuing to work on his debut album while playing local writer’s nights and showcases around Music City. Jacob will be on the road this Summer promoting the new music, so please join Jacob’s mailing list and link up with him on all of his social media platforms to stay up to date with his musical journey.

Matt York – Matt grew up in Foxboro, Massachusetts and began playing the clubs of Boston as a teenager. Since then, he’s played on stages through New England, New York, Nashville and Toronto. His latest album “Between the Bars” was released in November, 2017. Gatehouse Media’s Peter Chianca wrote of the new album “Put Boston’s Matt York in the ‘should be rich and famous department’ — his country rock with a jangly edge has instantaneous appeal, combining wry lyrics about barflies, ex-lovers and fading summers with infectious melodies and a rocker’s penchant for strumming his way through heartbreak”.

Terry Kitchen – Called “one of New England’s best songwriters” by The Boston Globe, award-winning contemporary folk singer/songwriter Terry Kitchen writes songs that are portraits of ordinary people and emotions, captured with extraordinary compassion, honesty and humor. His latest CD The Quiet Places has been heard across the U.S and Canada, with its opening track “Enjoy It While It Lasts” reaching #8 on the national Folk-DJ chart. Kitchen’s songs have won the Mid-Atlantic and USA Song Contests and been runner-up in the John Lennon Song Contest, and have appeared in numerous films. He has been performing on folk stages since the 1990s, releasing ten CDs, and he was the leader of the groundbreaking ’80s band Loose Ties, whose experiences he recounts in his novel Next Big Thing, called “a great debut novel” by The San Francisco Book Review.

Thomas Signoretti  – Singer-songwriter (bio to come).

“Newport, RI is a hot spot of renowned musical events including Newport Folk Festival, Newport Jazz Festival and Bridge Festival.  Some of music’s most notorious songwriters can be seen in Newport; you never know who will show up,” the website for Newport To Nashville states.

Doors open for Newport To Nashville at 6 pm and music is scheduled to being at 7 pm. There is no cover, but there is a $10 minimum on food and beverage purchases. The Newport Playhouse & Cabaret Restaurant, which is located at 102 Connell Highway in Newport, offers complimentary parking.
