Aquidneck Growers' Market
The Aquidneck Growers Market returns to Memorial Boulevard every Wednesday

Aquidneck Community Table announced on Wednesday in a press release that The North Side Community Market will open this Friday with a big community party at the Florence Gray Center.

At the event, the Newport Housing Authority is sponsoring a “HUD Strong Families” event to celebrate the beginning of the summer season. All are welcome to attend the event from 2 PM – 5 PM, with produce for sale, food on the grill, music, storytelling, local organizations getting the word out about their services and activities, and fun for the whole family.

The market run in a partnership between Aquidneck Community Table (ACT) and the Newport Health Equity Zone (HEZ), will run every Friday from 2 PM to 6 PM through September 28, with local farmers and other vendors, the Food Explorers program that introduces new produce tastes to kids, plus games, activities, and local musicians. Parking is available for customers at the Newport Heights visitors lot.

This month, all three ACT markets are able to offer a 100% bonus for fruit and vegetables when SNAP clients use their EBT allowance to purchase tokens at the market Welcome Stalls. For every $5 that SNAP program users spend they receive an additional free $5 in tokens to purchase fresh produce. This increased bonus is made possible by the work of Farm Fresh RI and Wholesome Wave Foundation.

Many market vendors also accept WIC (Women, Infants and Children) and Senior Citizen coupons. Customers without cash may use their debit or credit cards to purchase market tokens at the Welcome Stall for convenient shopping at every vendor.

The Florence Gray Center is located at 1 York Street in Newport. For more information info@aquidneckcommunitytable.org.
